Bottomed Out Buffet

For the last 10 years this piece of furniture, I call it a buffet, had to sit in a walk-in closet due to lack of space anywhere else in my tiny house.  The brace that held the bottom drawer and the bottom of the side cabinets had fallen out.  This week Mr. G. took care of that for me and put in one solid bottom with another roadside piece.  OH the wood and such that have to go in our landfills vs. the cost of the same stuff at lumber stores.  Hurts.  Love that Mr. G, he sure does come in handy.

Deck the Halls w/ Old Decking

Last spring, we spotted some old decking wood someone placed on the street side upon which I called Mr. G and he went and grabbed it for me with the intend to make some simple yard benches.  However, the creative mood suddenly struck me this morning with different ideas.  Tell you about the first one later, which I want Mr. G to do for me with some old deck railing.  That idea spawned the idea to grab 3 pieces and paint a tree.  Another piece sitting close became a sign.

After Thanksgiving I'll add some red balls to the greenery and decorate the mantel.  Who knows how it will turn out.  I don't.

Sharing this project at the following parties.  Please check them out for more super ideas.

Rainy Day Guilt

Yesterday was spent on the couch, wrapped up in a blanket and laptop on lap.   No heat turned on, door opened, enjoying the sound of the rain and birds.  Here is some of the scenery I enjoyed.  In one of them, can you see the train going across the field?  Guilt, YES, because before I knew, it I had spent over 8 hours looking at blogs!  Hey, I'm retired.  So should I feel guilty?
